Helen Hely was born in Tasmania and has always had an interest in design and colour. When she moved to Mission Beach in Far North Queensland in 1996 she was greatly influenced by the intensity of tropical colour and light, and this reflects in her work today.

Helen has had no formal training but began attending workshops and classes by well known local artists, particularly Aileen Shaw and Robyn Woodward, to gain broader experience and technique in the use of various mediums.

Helen’s special interest is in acrylic and mixed medium work and more recently has taken a journey into oils and pastels.

Helen is an award winning artist and her contemporary paintings hang in many Queensland homes.
