Miriam was born in Warwickshire, England. Her father came from the Orkney Islands and her mother from Ontario, Canada.
She emigrated from Britain to Australia in her early thirties with her husband and three sons and has resided on The Sunshine Coast for a number of years.
In her earlier career she was a hair stylist in a premier hair salon in Scotland where she studied and practised advanced colouring and styling.
Miriam’s later career was spent in the fashion and beauty industries where she further developed her interest of colour and coordination.
While always displaying keen artistic abilities it was not until she retired and travelled she began to avidly draw and paint.
Miriam has a naturalistic drawing and painting style, her understanding and appreciation of light and shade brings its own perspective and enhances her feel for colour, sometimes dramatic, sometimes muted.
Miriams subjects include both landscape and portraiture, more recently she has added intricate bird and flower depictions to her collection.
